I believe meaningful education extends beyond the classroom and that a strong school community is built through participation, connection and shared experiences. I enjoy contributing wherever I can, whether building sets and props for school productions, supporting community activities or dancing in house competitions. These moments allow students to see their teachers as active members of the community while strengthening school spirit, belonging and student well-being.

MYP Arts Festival

I have experience planning and coordinating an annual MYP Arts Festival, bringing together students, parents, local artists and the wider community to celebrate the Arts. Activities are led by local artists and teachers, giving them the opportunity to share their talents, skills and creative practices with the school community. The festival invites participants to engage, create, connect and explore through dance, crafts, painting, pottery, magic, music and theatre.

A highlight of the festival is a collaborative mural created by the whole school, giving every student the opportunity to contribute to a shared artwork and a lasting celebration of the school community.

Giving Back Through Art

Community Painting Service Club

I aim to create opportunities for students to use their artistic skills in service of others. For example, through the Community Painting Service Club, I worked with students to transform the walls of a school serving blind and Deaf students. This experience allowed students to use their talents for a meaningful cause and recognise how art can extend beyond the classroom, bring people together and make a positive contribution to the wider community.

Real World Experiance: Art In the Park

I believe students should have opportunities to share their work beyond the school environment. Participating in public exhibitions allows them to represent their school, engage with wider audiences and experience how artists prepare, present and discuss their work in professional settings. For example, students exhibited at Art in the Park alongside some of Malawi’s leading artists, giving them valuable real-world experience and the confidence to see themselves as part of a wider creative community.
